Admissions
No — absolutely not. HFA welcomes complete beginners. Our beginner programmes like Introduction to Fashion Designing and Design Fundamentals are built specifically for students who are starting from scratch. All you need is passion and the willingness to learn.
We accept students from age 16 and above for our standard programmes. Younger students may be considered on a case-by-case basis — please contact us to discuss. There is no upper age limit; we have students of all ages joining HFA.
You can apply online via our How to Apply page, or visit the campus in person. Fill in the application form, attach the required documents, and submit. You'll receive a confirmation and reference number within 1–2 working days.
Applications for the July 2026 intake close on July 7, 2026. We strongly recommend applying early as places are limited and fill up quickly. Late applications may be considered for future intakes.
No portfolio is required for beginner or intermediate programmes. For advanced programmes, you may be asked to share previous work, but this is not a barrier to entry — it simply helps us place you in the most appropriate level.
Our admissions team reviews applications within 3–5 working days. You will receive your offer letter (or a request for more information) via WhatsApp or email. You can also track your application online.
Yes. Students from across Nigeria and beyond are welcome to apply. Our programmes are campus-based and in-person, so you will need to be available to attend classes at our Abakaliki campus. We can help with advice on accommodation in the area — contact us for more information.
Programmes
It depends on your current skill level and goals. If you've never sewn before, start with Introduction to Fashion Designing or Design Fundamentals. If you can already sew and want to sharpen your technique, look at our intermediate programmes. If you have solid skills and want to specialise, our advanced programmes in corsetry, bridal wear, or fashion business are ideal. Still unsure? Contact our admissions team and we'll guide you.
In some cases, yes — subject to timetable availability. Many students combine complementary programmes, such as Pattern Making and Garment Construction. Speak with our admissions team to build a study plan that works for your schedule.
Programme durations vary. Beginner courses typically run 4–6 weeks, intermediate courses 6–8 weeks, and advanced programmes 8–10 weeks. Full durations are listed on our Fee Schedule page.
We offer both morning and afternoon sessions, Monday through Friday. Specific timetables are confirmed upon enrolment. Contact us on WhatsApp to ask about the current schedule for your chosen programme.
Our Digital Illustration programme covers both traditional fashion sketching by hand and the use of digital tools and software. You do not need to own a laptop — we have equipment available in our digital design suite on campus.
Fees & Payment
The fees listed on our Fee Schedule page are all-inclusive of tuition and studio access. Some specialist materials for advanced programmes (like specific fabrics for bridal construction) may need to be purchased separately — we will inform you in advance if this applies to your programme.
Yes. We understand that fees can be a barrier and we want to make HFA accessible to everyone. Speak with our admissions team about a structured payment plan. A non-refundable registration fee of ₦5,000 is required upfront to secure your place, with the balance paid in agreed instalments.
Payment can be made via bank transfer or cash in person at the campus. Bank account details are provided in your offer letter. Always request and keep your receipt as proof of payment.
The ₦5,000 registration fee is non-refundable, as it is used to hold your place and cover administrative costs. Programme fees paid beyond the registration fee may be partially refundable depending on the circumstances — contact us directly to discuss your situation.
From time to time, HFA offers reduced fees for exceptional candidates who demonstrate financial need and strong motivation. These are awarded on a case-by-case basis. If you believe you qualify, include a brief note in your personal statement and contact our admissions team to discuss.
Campus & Student Life
Our main campus is located in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. We have two campuses in total. Exact address and directions are provided in your enrolment pack. You can also contact us on WhatsApp for directions: +234 706 070 8766.
Our campus is equipped with professional sewing ateliers with industrial machines, pattern drafting and cutting studios, a digital illustration and design suite, a fashion photography lab, bridal and couture construction rooms, a student showcase hall, and a fashion library. All facilities are available to enrolled students during class hours.
The campus is open Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm. Specific class hours depend on your programme and are confirmed at enrolment. WhatsApp enquiries are welcome outside these hours and we aim to respond promptly.
HFA does not provide student accommodation directly. However, we are happy to advise on affordable options in Abakaliki for students relocating from other states. Contact us and we'll do our best to point you in the right direction.
Graduation & Certification
Yes. All graduates receive an official Humble Fashion Academy Certificate of Completion for their programme. Certificates are awarded at our graduation ceremony. You can also request certificate verification for employers or further education using our online verification tool.
Our certificates are recognised by fashion employers and industry professionals across Nigeria. Many of our graduates have used their HFA certificates to secure employment, launch their own labels, and gain entry to further fashion education. We are working towards formal accreditation and will update students when this is achieved.
We understand life happens. If you need to miss a class, please inform your instructor in advance. Catch-up sessions may be available depending on the programme. Students who fall significantly behind may be asked to defer to the next intake — speak with your instructor early if you are struggling.
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Many students progress through multiple levels at HFA, building their skills step by step. Completing a beginner programme makes you eligible to apply directly for intermediate programmes without going through the full admissions process again.
Yes. We actively support our graduates through our alumni network, industry connections, and our Fashion Business Class. Our instructors have extensive industry relationships and can introduce students to opportunities. We also host student showcases where designers can present their work to a wider audience.
